'THIS IS NOT A SELFIE'

The self portrait is enjoying a radical renaissance with the proliferation of cell phones, social media like Facebook, and apps like Instagram. And while the "selfie" has become ubiquitous, the art of portrait photography is as old as the medium itself.

Featuring artists: Chris Gampat, Joelle Sedlmeyer, Travis Williams, Lemia Bodden, Tristan Lamour,  Lily Stampfel,
Augusta Sagnelli, Erika Norton

Curator- Scott Nyerges
Brooklyn-based photographer and filmmaker. His video work has been shown at the Tribeca Film Festival, the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, while his photography has been featured in the book Carrot City, as well as in the Architectural League of New York’s Urban Omnibus blog, Momentum magazine and Architectural Digest’s shopAD blog.

It brings me back to my favorite Detroit party days that I have missed so much.  Feb. 14 I opened for Chris Summer and Bookworms and Feb. 21 Iopened for Justin Miller.  Both such fantastic nights!
